Beijing, January 22 - Comments from coach Brad Ness (AUS) and Justin Eveson (AUS) after Australia beat Netherlands 66-32 in the preliminary round.
Brad Ness (AUS) - Center
On today's performance:
"The team played very well together. We did the defense better in the second half. As for me, I played terrible. I wasn't in a good shape and did bad shots."
On getting rebound in the second quarters:
"I got several rebounds in a row but scored none of tham, but as least I got close to the basket (laugh). During the break time, my coach came into the court and told me to relax and shot with my wrist."
On singing beside the court:
"It is our way to involve everyone of the squd in the game not only the players on court. Since we are far from home, we need support from it."
On goal for 2008 Paralympics:
"The only one goal is the gold. I think our biggest rivals will be the USA and Canada. We will strenghthen the whole team's cooperation together."
Justin Eveson (AUS) - Forward
On Netherlands' performance:
"It was not the first time for us to compete against the Netherlands, we met several times in the paralympics and in the 2006 World Championships in Amsterdam, we beat them. They missed some key players just joined the team. And I think they will do better in future."
On his points per game:
"I scored a lot, maybe because I was one of the big guys and got the rebounds. If you noticed the scoreboard, almost everyone in our team scored in the two days. Thls is crucial to our team."
On wheelchair skills:
"We work very hard on chairs to improve our wheelchair skills. I fell off many times over 11 years before I was able to shoot sitting on one wheel."
On tomorrow's plan:
"We are going to visit Tiananmen Square tomorrow. We trained last night after the match. it's good to have a day off to see sites in Beijing and get to know the people and culture. There wouldn't be much pressure before the semi-final."
