(Beijing, January 22) In the last round of the women's game of the "Good Luck Beijing" 2008 Wheelchair Basketball International Invitational Tournament held on January 22, the Canadian team, champion of the Athens Paralympics, outperformed the Chinese team 54-42. In this round, the Chinese team was in an unfavorable situation in the beginning and the Canadian team claimed the final victory with the advantage it set up in the first part of the competition.

The 2004 Paralympics champion failed to put up an ideal show in this tournament, losing to the German team and the Japanese team tandem prior to this. Whereas the Chinese team, not strong enough to contend with these tough teams, just aims at training the team in this tournament, which makes its consecutive losses in the previous two rounds reasonable.

In the first set of this competition, the Chinese team played well in the first five minutes, resulting in 4-5 with the Canadian team. In the following five minutes, however, the Canadian team accomplished a 12-0 climax, thus finishing this set with a 17-4 lead. In the second set, the Chinese team stabilized and ended up 9-10 with its opponent. Thus the Canadian team led 27-13.

In the third set, the Chinese team performed ok in its attacks and won 14 points in a single set, while the Canadian team only gained 11 points, having the gap reduced to 11 points. Both were powerful in their attacking momentum, with the Chinese team acquiring 15 points and its Canadian counterpart 16 points. Finally, the Canadian team beat the Chinese team 54-42.

After the round robin, the Canadian team turned out the third in the preliminary by winning over one team and losing to two, while the Chinese team ranked the fourth after falling to three teams.
