Iwasa Yoshiaki (JPN) - Coach
On today's competition:
"We were happy to recoord our second win. It's an honour to play against Canada, the best team in the world. Compared with western players, our team memeber are smaller, but also move faster on the court. We viewed today's match as a chllenge and hope to play another wonderful match against Canada soon. "
Amimoto Mari (JAN) - Centre
On the training:
"We always ungergo very strict and hard training, since our goal is to win. I 'm afraid we take no enjoyment in training."
Timothy Frick (CAN) - Coach
On today's competition:
"Team Japan performed very well. They played consistently and intensively throughout the game which is why they won.I expected the match would be tough. For women's wheelchair basketball, Japan, Canada, Germany, Australia and USA are all among the best in the world. Anybody could win. Our aim is to win the gold medal at the Paralympic Games in September, so we plan to provide more team members with competition experience."
Chantal Benoit (CAN) - Forward
On JNP's perfoamance:
"They are a quick team and have efficient passers. They kept a level head throughout the match and kept to their game plan. They are in good shape and never veered from their strategy."
On impressive JPN players:
"Definitely AMIMOTO Mari (No. 15) and TAKUBO Ikumi (No. 12). They were quick and good inside-shooters. AMIMOTO is also effective from the 3-point line, making them real threats."
On her special role on court:
"My speed and passing ability are my advantages. But we generally played as a team, giving us a good opportunity to improve our strategies."
Jennifer Krempien (CAN) - Guard
On her role in the team:
"My job is to help maintain our energy rate, and dictate our general game plan."
On JPN's defence and speed:
"They are a very ambitious and resilient team. We did not play very well. Japan has a different playing style to Germany. They are extremely quick and have some great shooter."
On the turnovers and low shooting rate:
"We missed a lot of very easy lay ups. I'm not sure why but we must focus on that and improve prior to the next game."
On the time-out strategies:
"We just set up rebounds to ensure good post-up shots."
