(Beijing, January 19) The press conference for the "Good Luck Beijing" 2008 Wheelchair Basketball International Invitational Tournament was held at the National Indoor Stadium, at which the event organizing committee briefed the media on the tournament preparations. As the last Paralymic event of the "Good Luck Beijing" Sport Events, the six-day tournament will officially kick off on January 20.

Located in the southeast of Olympic Green, National Indoor Stadium, Beijing's largest indoor stadium, is one of the three main venues in the central area for the 2008 Olympic Games. During the Beijing Olympic and Paralympic Games, sports such as gymnastics, trampoline gymnastics, handball and wheelchair basketball will be held here at the stadium.

So far three "Good Luck Beijing" sport events have been staged at the National Indoor Stadium, namely the Artistic Gymnastics International Invitational Tournament, the Trampoline Gymnastics International Invitational Tournament and the Handball Tournament. Through these events, the venue operation team has accumulated rich experience and is all set for yet another challenge and also the first event in this Olympic year.

The tournament will feature two events, the men's team and the women's team, both with the participation of four squads. The four men's teams come from Canada, Germany, Japan and host China, while the four women's teams are from Canada, the Netherlands, Australia and host China.

The competition will be divided into two parts, the group preliminaries and the elimination round, with the round-robin preliminaries to be held on January 20-22, and the semifianls on 24. On January 25, the last day of the tournament, finals and bronze-medal matches will be played for both the men's and women's divisions.
