(Beijing, September 28) From Nov. 28 2007, 4 "Good Luck Beijing" sport events, Artistic Gymnastic, Trampoline, Handball and Wheelchair Basketball, will be held in National Indoor Stadium. In the press conference held in Sep. 27, Zhang Jingdong, the general manager of Guoao Investment gave a brief introduction of National Indoor Stadium.

As one major project of Beijing Olympics, the construction of National Indoor Stadium started on May 28 2005. With the supports of Beijing Municipal People’s Government and BOCOG, the project went on very well, and would be finished in October 2007. With the shape of an unfolded fan, National Indoor Stadium embodies a perfect combination of traditional and modern architecture.

National Indoor Stadium covers an area of 6.87 sq.km. and the area of construction reaches 81000 sq.m.. Inside the stadium, the architectural space reaches 510000 stere so that the capacity could be 20000, which made the stadium the biggest indoor stadium in both Beijing and China. The area of the main court is 3000 sq.m.and there are also warm-up court of the same area and wheelchair-accessible ramps of 300 sq.m..

In the stadium there are also some individualized services, like press conference center with a capacity of 250, VIP box with complete hospitality services and the VIP area with ethical characteristics, etc.

The construction of National Indoor Stadium embodies the 3 concepts of Green Olympics, People's Olympics and Hi-tech Olympics. Steel roof truss, roof, glass curtain wall, steel scoria backfilling, solar generating, natural lighting, Seat air supply, storm-water recirculation system and environmental protecting building materials, all of the these embodies the contribution of the Chinese engineers.
